My Story
Hi! I’m Toni, an experienced certified birth doula with Childbirth International and certified placenta encapsulation specialist with Brilliant Birth Academy. I’m here to help moms birth with confidence through informational, emotional and physical doula support.
I grew up in Fuquay-Varina, NC and went to UNCW. My first career was in education. You could find me surrounded by 20 seven-year-olds for most of my day. Teaching first grade was fun, but teaching internationally was the real adventure! My husband and I moved abroad after college, living and working in three countries: Kuwait, Indonesia, and Mexico. Travel is our passion, and we are so grateful to visit places all over the world!
Everyone always asks which place was my favorite. My answer hands-down: Bali, Indonesia. I worked at an outdoor environment education school in the jungle surrounded by plants and animals. Nature shaped my day and the lessons from this beautiful culture were endless.
In Bali, some of the most impactful lessons surrounded how growing a family looks different around the world, specifically how new moms are cared for. I learned about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I learned what our bodies are capable of and how we were built to birth babies! My eyes were opened to what birth can look like and a new passion grew. I researched, read, listened to and learned everything I could about pregnancy and birth.
That passion continued when we moved to Mexico, and in 2018 I started my birth doula certification with Childbirth International. In 2019 my husband and I moved back to NC where I finished my birth doula certification and earned my placenta encapsulation specialist certification.
I’ve had the honor to support homebirths and hospital births since 2021. Every birth is different, and I am constantly learning and growing in this work. I’m in awe of the power and beauty of childbirth and honored to be in the birth space.
